Welcome to CLG Na Fianna’s Gaelic for Mothers & Others Page.
Mothers & Others is a Ladies Gaelic Football (LGFA) initiative for women aged 25 and over, who are not currently playing competitive Gaelic Football with a club in the LGFA league/championships. Our women are a mixture of people who have never played football at all before, to some who played when younger but haven’t in quite a while.
We want to give women in the area an opportunity to play football in a fun, non-competitive, social environment. As well as getting fit and having a laugh, participants learn the rules, game technique, and coaching tips. We organise games with other Mothers & Others clubs, and attend blitzes where a number of clubs come together and play a multiple of short games against each other.
Training is a mixture of fitness training, ball skills, and a short game. We start and finish all sessions with a comprehensive warm-up/cool-down and lots of stretching. We play short (10-15 mins), small team games (usually 9 a side) on small pitches (usually half a full-size pitch).
The focus is very much on recreation and enjoyment, not competitiveness. It’s a great way to get to know other women in the club and in the area.
