Adult Football cup competitions started this weekend and congrats to Seniors, Inters and AFL8’s on wins. Hard luck to our AFL5’s. Minor A and B hurlers both lost their opening league matches on Sunday. Adult Cup competitions continue next Sunday with Seniors away against Raheny at 10.30am, Inters in Collinstown at 12 against St Peregrines, AFL5’s play Sylvesters in Collinstown at 3pm and AFL8’s are away against Sylvesters at 12. Adult Hurling cup action also on Sunday with Inters in Mobhi Road at 10.30 against Lucan and Junior A’s away against Kevins at 12.15. Minor A and B footballers play away at 11am. Congrats to Shane Barrett, Donal Burke, and Dublin’s Senior hurlers on Saturday night’s eight point fine win over Cork with Donal contributing eight points. Mixed fortunes for Dublin’s Camogie teams, hard luck to Seniors including Eve O’Brien, Arlene Cushen and Zoe O’Donoghue and to Minors including Niamh Gleeson, Niamh Rock and Orla Gray. Well done to Gráinne Free, Roisin Baker and Dublin’s Premier Juniors against Roscomman. Hard luck to Leah Caffrey and Dublin’s ladies footballers on Sunday against Cork. Good luck to Jonny Cooper, Conor McHugh and Dublin’s Senior footballers away against Donegal next Sunday. Best of luck to Cian O Dalaigh and Meadhbh Ni Dhalaigh in Arizona representing DCU in the American Colleges Handball Championships on Wednesday 22nd with finals on Sunday 26th. Members’ Raffle for €1,000 will be held on St Patrick’s Day for those club members who support the 2017 draw. Fleadh na bhFiann, a day-long club festival of music, dance, singing and storytelling for young and old alike, will be held in Na Fianna on Saturday 4th March. A great day is planned culminating in a big Céilí that night, fáilte roimh cách, all welcome. Sad to note the passing of Mick (Redser) Ryan in Tralee last week. Mick’s long association with Na Fianna hurling and with St Vincent’s Secondary School will be remembered by many. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
