A Chairde,
An Taoiseach announced this evening that Dublin will be moving to Level 3 on the Government’s “Resilience and Recovery Plan for Living with Covid-19” at midnight tonight, for three weeks.
The GAA’s Covid Advisory Group have issued, this week, some key updates on what this means for those involved in Gaelic Games. We would ask all members, and particularly players, mentors and coaches, to familiarise themselves with what this means for club activity.
In particular, please note that at Level 3, there can be NO underage matches (u18 and down) including internal matches. Non-contact training only, in groups of 15 (inclusive of two mentors) can continue next week. Nursery will be cancelled for tomorrow to allow us to recalibrate for next week.
Dublin GAA have confirmed that Adult Games will go ahead as scheduled this weekend but behind closed doors i.e. no spectators.
We will update you with any new information as we receive it. Please share this information as appropriate with anyone who you think might need it.
In the meantime can we request that all members strictly adhere to the revised important public health guidelines in the interest of all our community.

Covid Advisory Group – Updated advice on attendance at underage games
The GAA’s Covid Advisory committee have issued updated guidance to all clubs in relation to attendance at underage games. This advice is based on updated guidelines issued on behalf of the Government by Sport Ireland:
Clubs should note that:
Parents are NOT permitted to be in attendance at adult games where their child (U18) is participating. However, provision can be made to allow an adult to be in close proximity (e.g. in the car park etc) in case medical or other emergency needs require their presence.
It has also been clarified that a parent/guardian attending an underage game in these circumstances shall not be subject to vetting as they are only the supervisor in a guardianship role for their own child and not any other child on the team.
A Rúnaí a chara,
Please see below the latest update from the GAA’s Covid Advisory Group. It relates to a Government requirement to ensure that all parents attending underage activity complete a Health Questionnaire in addition to that completed by their child. This applies with immediate effect in the 26 counties.
Go raibh maith agaibh.

A Chairde ,
Please note current public health restrictions state that all adult games may only proceed “behind closed doors” with team personel only.
As a result Mobhi road will be closed tonight (Wed 26th Aug) to all members other than those directly training/playing on site.
Those training on all weathers should arrive and depart in a timely manner and juveniles should be dropped and collected from outside club.
Members using Scoil Chaitríona pitch should access by Scoil Mobhi only and unfortunately will have no access to club grounds.
We would kindly ask that all members cooperate in strictly adhering to these guidelines.

GAA Covid Advisory Group – Advice to Clubs in the 26 Counties (August 21st 2020)
The relevant updated Government advice on Sport, issued on Tuesday August 18th 2020, is as follows:
“Sporting events and matches can continue to take place but behind closed doors with:
The additional implications of the above for Gaelic Games are as follows:
Games behind closed doors As games must now be played “behind closed doors”, this means only essential personnel should be in attendance. No more than 40 persons per team should be allowed access to games for the moment. This figure should include all players, management, coaches, ancillary backroom personnel and officials.
The 80 team personnel (40 per team) is in addition to essential match day personnel such as Match officials (Referees, Linesmen, Umpires), Media, Streaming personnel and required event officials (stewards etc.)
The restrictions on the playing of games in Kildare remain in place until Government clarify the situation.
Underage games Consistent with our advice of Wednesday, August 19th, the Government have now confirmed Parents/Guardians attending training or games in a safeguarding /supervisory capacity are not classified as spectators; however strict social distancing and public health guidelines should be adhered to at all times. In that context, one parent/guardian per child is permitted to attend at a sporting event, including a game or training session, should they consider it necessary.
Any person wishing to attend our underage training or games including coaches, parents, players and spectators shall be subject to the provisions of the Code of Behaviour (Underage).
For the purpose of clarification, it is the coaches and other responsible adults, trained and vetted to oversee our games at underage level, who are responsible, on behalf of our Clubs, for the organising of our games at this level.
The Government have undertaken to provide further protocols in this context which will be issued in the coming days.
Training/Cúl Camps Team training and Cúl Camps can continue on the basis of no more than 15 people (including coaches) in a designated area of the field once sufficient space is available and public health protocols are followed.
Training in Counties Laois, Kildare and Offaly should continue on a non-contact basis, in groups of no more than 15 people (including coaches) in a designated area of the field, until Government restrictions specific to those Counties are relaxed.
(Note: Underage groups must be comprised in accordance with the ratios provided for by the Code of Behaviour Underage).
Meetings Indoor club or committee meetings should be avoided where possible but when they must take place, should involve no more than 6 people and should adhere to the guidelines outlined previously by the GAA’s Health and Safety Committee, including the need for 2m social distancing
Control Measures All Clubs are reminded of the need to adhere to the following control measures in the interest of the health and safety of our members and broader society:

A Rúnaí a chara,
Following last night’s government announcement the GAA is seeking clarification on a number of issues relating to the organisation of Gaelic games and activities (26 Counties).
As soon as we get clarity on these issues we will update our units.
In the meantime, as games must now be played “behind closed doors”, no more than 40 persons per team should be allowed access to games for the moment. This figure should include all players, management, coaches, ancillary backroom personnel and team officials.
The 80 team personnel (40 per team) is in addition to essential match day personnel such as Match officials (Referees, Linesmen, Umpires), Media and event officials (stewards etc.)
While we await further clarification on the issue of parents attending juvenile games we suggest that one parent or guardian may attend a game where they consider it necessary for the welfare of their own child.
Cúl Camps and Team training should continue for the moment on the basis of no more than 15 people (including coaches) in a designated area of the field.
As ever, the Association asks units and members do their utmost to protect public health and we are very grateful for all of your efforts in this regard.

A Chairde,
Please see latest Covid-19 Media Release issued by GAA, yesterday 6th May 2020.
Covid-19 Update
The GAA notes and welcomes the plans published by the government last Friday and some of the dates included relating to the possible return of sporting activity, including Gaelic games.
The Association will attempt to seek clarity around some of the issues that have arisen in internal discussions since last Friday including the challenge of social distancing in contact sport.
GAA facilities are to remain closed as part of efforts to prevent gatherings which breach the restrictions.
We are instructing our clubs and counties to continue to adhere to the restrictions and to refrain from organising on-field activity. These measures are expected to remain in place until July 20 .
We will continue to monitor the dates and timelines as revealed by the Government and our arrangements will remain under constant review.
Our units are reminded that the Player Injury scheme is suspended and will remain so until an official return to action protocol is confirmed.
The GAA still firmly hopes to be able to play county and club competitions this year, subject of course to public health guidance. We can confirm however that no inter-county games are expected to take place before October.
Counties are asked, in the interest of players, to suspend all inter-county training until further notice. There will be a phased resumption of training at both club and county level to allow players to prepare appropriately for playing games.
While not categorically ruling out the possible staging of games behind closed doors later in the year, there appears to be a lack of appetite for this type of fixture-scheduling at the current time across the wider Association.
The GAA can also confirm the appointment of a dedicated Covid-19 Advisory Group which will advise the Association on matters relating to return to play protocols and other similar issues.
The members of this group are as follows:
Shay Bannon (Chairman) – existing Chairman of Health and Safety group
Dick Clerkin (existing Chairman of Medical Scientific and Welfare Committee)
Dr Pat O’Neill (Dublin)
Dr Kevin Moran (Donegal)
Dr Jim O’Donovan (Limerick)
Dr Seán Moffatt (Chair of Gaelic Medical Association and Mayo team doctor)
Paul Flynn (CEO Gaelic Players Association)
Stephen Mc Geehan (Head of Operations, Ulster GAA)
Tony Mc Guinness (Events and Safety Manager, Croke Park)
Sinéad McNulty (CEO An Cumann Camógaíochta)
Helen O’Rourke (CEO Ladies Gaelic Football Association)
John Horan (Uachtarán CLG)
Tom Ryan (Ard Stiúrthóir CLG)
Feargal Mc Gill (Director of Player, Club and Games Administration)
The outcome of this group’s work will be a graduated approach, informed and guided by the recently published Government Roadmap and by Government policy from Stormont.
Our units have played an important role in the community effort against the pandemic and we thank all of our members for their role in this to date.
We also underline the importance of continuing to adhere to the guidelines to ensure that the country as a whole meets its targets in the coming weeks allowing us to make progress and facilitate a return to games when it is safe to do so.

COVID 19 – Club Update
“Nach ait an mac an saol”
1ú Aibrean 2020
A Chairde,
I hope this finds you and your loved ones in good health. It’s remarkable that rather than celebrating our players senior championship exploits tonight as planned that we now collectively face the unprecedented Covid-19 challenge.
All our worlds have changed drastically in the last few weeks. In the scale of this global challenge our local Na Fianna response may seem insignificant but in truth our local and personal actions are vital at this time.
Together we face the challenge of our generation
It’s now more important then ever that our robust community infrastructure is harnessed and utilized for the benefit of all. Now more than ever do we rely on each other locally – to keep each other safe – to keep our spirits up and to assist all others in our community in a time of need.
Again in the face of adversity the response of our community, like all communities throughout our small island, has been truly inspiring.
We are immensely proud of all of our members contributing to the national effort – to our sporting heroes- we now add a new list of role models of whom we’re equally proud of- to all of you assisting from frontline health care, to pilots, community and political leaders, retail workers, teachers, journalists, volunteers and so many others – Ár mbuíochas ó chroí agus coinnigh do mhisneach.
“Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine”
Since the beginning of Covid-19 crisis the Executive of CLG Na Fianna has held regular on-line meetings to review our community response and co-ordinate the following actions.
A range of club activities continue as follows:
Na Fianna’s Covid Volunteer Community Assistance
The volunteer community assistance programme, which is player led, is now under way and is led by our Players Rep on the Exec Niall McGovern and volunteer coordinated by Anne O’Dea
The assistance programme is currently
To seek assistance from or to volunteer for this group please contact community@clgnafianna.ie or ring 087 2446053
“Mol an Óige agus tíocfaidh sí”
Games Development – On Line training
Our Games Development group have been coordinating an outstanding response with much activity continuing in a safe on-line environment including the following:
Great credit is due to both Niall Cooper and Mark Mc Manus for such great work in this area along with our nursery co-ordinator Michael Carr. It would be helpful to provide feedback to Niall and Mark of any of your own groups innovations if relevant so we can share all our new learning experiences as quickly as possible.
Our cultural activities also continue with our Thursday night Trad session now gone live on-line too!
“Is fearr an tsláinte ná an táinte”
Serious operational implications for club
While our emphasis at this time will continue to be on the health and well-being of our community, we must recognise that the sudden changes are having a catastrophic effect on the financial operations of our community.
Normally our substantial monthly costs of over €80k are met by our monthly income from sources such as rental income, bar revenue, room hire, fundraising and members subs.
In our new environment, our partner social enterprises have temporarily ceased operating, our bar and function rooms are closed and new subscriptions have ceased so we are not currently in a position to match our income to our outgoings.
A specially constituted Covid-19 finance sub committee urgently reviewed all the financial implications and they presented their detailed recommendations to an online meeting of the Executive last Sunday evening.
The recommendations adopted by the executive regretfully include the temporary lay off of staff, the request to defer our mortgage payments, a request for our social enterprises to continue to support the club during this time and a range of other deferral of costs including a request for support from our governing bodies.
To counter balance the loss of revenue we will shortly launch a suite of Covid related projects, which we will ask all members to support, where possible-
These will include:
Despite a further delay in approval of our state grant drawdown we are now almost ready to commence construction when it’s safe but will need our members support to help fund this projects completion – there will be more news on this as we progress.
“Ní neart go cur le chéile”
We have and will continue to face this challenge together, unified with the clarion call of our ancient Na Fianna motto – “Purity of heart, strength in our limbs and actions according to our words”.
We each, by our own practicable actions, have a unique opportunity to help save lives. Our own actions can also assist and support those who put their health at risk for the greater good – from our outstanding health care staff, medical and support staff, to retail staff, volunteers in community efforts and so many more.
Please heed the advice of our outstanding Health care specialists and #stayathome
To conclude on an uplifting note here a small flavour of the positive efforts of some of our community of whom we’re immensely proud of:
We all know thankfully that there are so many others in our community who, like those above, neither seek praise nor thanks but are dedicated to the simple goal of keeping us safe.
We are immensely proud of all these efforts, sibhse ár Laochanna inniu agus ár mbuíochas libh go deo. Beirimid an bua agus tiocfaimid tríd le chéile le……
Glaine in ár gcroí -Purity in our hearts
Neart in ár nGeag – Strength in our limbs
Beart de réir ár mbriathar – Action according to our words

A Chairde,
Please see official Covid-19 directive from GAA instructing all Clubs to fully close all facilities. This is to include the use of all pitches & property for recreational purposes, including walking, casual games or gatherings. As a result ALL Na Fianna pitches are now CLOSED.
https://www.gaa.ie/news-archive/news/latest-gaa-update-on-covid-19/
Wednesday 25 March 2020
We previously advised that, until March 29th, games and training were suspended, club gyms were to close, and Player Injury Fund cover was suspended.
We subsequently instructed that club bars should also close for the period.
Club Operations
Please be advised that, in line with recent government announcements, these measures and closures are now extended to Sunday April 19 inclusive, at which stage arrangements will be reviewed.
In addition, we are now instructing GAA Clubs to close their facilities completely.
This is to include the use of all pitches and property for recreational purposes, including walking, casual games or gatherings.
Where it is not possible to restrict access please erect signage to the effect that all GAA facilities are closed and all activity suspended.
In order to facilitate an orderly resumption of activities when circumstances permit, Clubs are encouraged to proceed as normal with their membership registration process where practical. Clubs of course should be mindful of the possible changed financial circumstances of members.
Similarly, club lottos may proceed if they are run on an online basis and do not involve wholesale engagement with the public.
Clubs are also advised to refrain from undertaking new capital projects while support funding for this type of work is suspended.
Community Support
As a national / international organisation, we have a part to play in emphasising the need to practice social distancing, as outlined by the authorities.
It is imperative that we exercise extreme caution keeping two metres between people when taking physical exercise while encouraging people to consider using off-peak times when they are less likely to meet others.
Attached is the latest messaging from the HSE covering guidelines around volunteering which we advise our clubs to consider as they involve themselves in community-based volunteer efforts.
Individual volunteers are asked to register with Volunteer Ireland (26 Counties) and Volunteer Now (Six Counties).
We would like to thank everyone who has helped the GAA adhere to government guidelines up to this point.
We would also like to assure you that we, and the wider GAA team across our counties and provinces, are working hard to ensure that we are in the best possible position to return to our games when that time comes.
In the meantime, please stay safe, look out for one another and continue to adhere to the instructions of the Government and the Health Authorities at this most challenging time.

Covid-19 – Na Fianna Update
14ú Márta 2020
Since last week’s Government guidelines on dealing with Covid-19 were announced, CLG Na Fianna has consistently advised members to follow the guidelines as recommended by official sources. This will continue to be the case and all members and mentors are asked to only use or refer to information from these official sources i.e. HSE, Department of Health etc.
In the following pages please see latest website links, some practical guidelines and latest communications from our relevant sporting bodies.
Given the current situation the Club Executive has made the following decisions in the best interests of Na Fianna members.
Members will understand that due to the ever-changing environment in which we find ourselves, decisions on further closures, restrictions and limitations may be taken on a daily basis but that any further changes will be communicated as they arise.
Na Fianna’s Whatsapp groups are intended for club communication and should only be used for the cascading to team groups of club related information and updates from verified official sources.
Most importantly, stay safe and look after each other. We are going through unprecedented times and an appeal is being made to all members and the Na Fianna Community, in the interests of public safety, to follow all published guidelines.

In the meantime, the Association is encouraging all members to continue to follow the guidelines which have been provided by the health authorities.

Dear Chairman
On public health advice a school in Dublin has been closed until Monday March 16th 2020.
All staff and students have been advised not to attend school, work, social or sporting events and to limit their social interactions in so far as possible.
This includes not having visitors to the house and avoiding social gatherings and crowded settings.
Other members of their household do not need to restrict their activities.
However, there are no restrictions for any other people in the community who use your Na Fianna facilities or participate in events in your club.
I attach for your information a leaflet on Hand Hygiene and Respiratory Hygiene.
Kind regards
Miriam

At this sensitive time where potential for mis-information and speculation exists, it is important that we take our guidance and instruction from relevant and qualified personnel, in this case the Public Health Section of the HSE.
As is always the case, it is entirely the prerogative of parents and members to decide whether or not to attend official Club activities.
Please see attached latest HSE guidelines on Hand Hygiene and Respiratory Hygiene. For latest information please see https://www.hpsc.ie/
